H.H. SHRI HARIBHAU NITURKAR JOSHI MAHARAJ
SIDDHAYOGACHARYA BHAGWATACHARYA H.H. SHRI HARIBHAU NITURKAR JOSHI MAHARAJ as we all fondly call him “Bhau Maharaj” hails from Nitur, Latur district of Maharashtra State .
Since his early childhood Maharaj displayed super grasping powers. This enabled him to learn the Sanskrit language and Vedas at the tender age of seven. It is said that Lord Pandurang was Himself present at Maharaj’s Sacred Thread ceremony.
Having received initiation from his Guru Shri Gunda Narayan Maharaj, Pandharpur and then later into Siddhayog from Rashtriya Pandit, Vidyavachaspati, Brahmashri His Holiness Shri Datta Maharaj Kavishwar, Pune , Bhau Maharaj started his spiritual journey.
After getting instructions from H.H. Shri Datta Maharaj Kavishwar to give discourses on spiritual subjects especially “Bhagwat”, Bhau Maharaj has been travelling all cities across and outside Bharat till now has given more than 90 discourses on Bhagwat and other subjects too.
While managing his work at DRDO, Hyderabad and discourses in many cities Bhau Maharaj travelled to Pithapur once upon receiving darshan from Lord Dattatreya’s first incarnation in Kaliyug- Shripad Shrivallabha and getting instructions to visit the Shripad Shrivallabh Mahasansthan in Pithapur from Him. There too Maharaj received darshan of Shripad Srivallabha and His sportive plays of childhood.
This became kind of a routine for Maharaj and he decided to dedicate his life towards Shripada’s service.
During his multiple visits to the Mahasansthan, Bhau Maharaj realized the inconveniences faced by many devotees like the availability of meals and refreshments and felt the need to arrange for the same. Thus, Bhau Maharaj’s persistence efforts led to the commencement of Annadan (Donating food) by the trustees at the Mahasanthan premises in Pithapur.
As it is mentioned in the hagiography of Shripad Shrivallabha Charitamrutam that lakhs of devotees will gather like rows of ants in Pithapur to take darshan of Shripada at the Mahasansthan, Bhau Maharaj sensed the necessity of a Bhakt Nivas to accommodate these many devotees. Maharaj’s dream of building one such residence is now taking shape and the construction will begin soon.
